India is blessed with a vast network of rivers. Here is a list of some major rivers of India:-

1. Ganga River: 

Ganga is one of the most sacred river in India and flows through northern India including state like Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal, before entering Bangladesh and eventually emptying into Bay of Bengal.

2. Yamuna River: 

It is another important river in northern India, flowing parallel to Ganga. It passes through states like Himachal Pradesh, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh before merging with Ganga at Prayagraj.

3. Brahmaputra River: 

This river flows through northeastern India. It is originating in Tibet, passing through Arunachal Pradesh and Assam and eventually entering Bangladesh, where it's known as the Jamuna. It eventually merged with the Ganga in Bangladesh.

4. Indus River: 

Indus River flows through parts of northern India, particularly in the Union Territory of Ladakh, before entering Pakistan. It's one of the major rivers of  Indian subcontinent.

5. Krishna River: 

Krishna River flows through the southern states of Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh, eventually emptying into Bay of Bengal.

6. Godavari River: 

Godavari is one of the longest rivers in India, flowing through central and southern India. It originates in the state of Maharashtra and flows through states like Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, before emptying into Bay of Bengal.

7. Narmada River: 

Narmada River flows through central India, originating in Madhya Pradesh and flowing through parts of Maharashtra and Gujarat, eventually emptying into Arabian Sea.

8. Tapti River:

Tapti River also flows through central India, originating in Madhya Pradesh and flowing through Maharashtra, before emptying into Arabian Sea.

9. Cauvery (Kaveri) River: 

Kaveri River flows through southern states of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu and it's a lifeline for the region, providing water for irrigation.

10. Bhagirathi River: 

Bhagirathi River is one of the main tributaries of the Ganges and originates in the state of Uttarakhand.

11. Chenab River: 

Chenab River flows through the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and into Pakistan, where it joins the Indus River.

12. Sutlej River: 

Sutlej River flows through northern India and enters Pakistan, eventually joining the Indus River.
